Final
For my final I performed a salsa bowl. I really like how it turned out other than a crack on the bottom of the bowl I really like the blue color I like how it pops and just make a cool wave pattern on the sides. I never thought that I would like to do wheel throwing but I really enjoyed it. Out of every thing I did in ceramics I enjoyed doing wheel throwing. I hope I get another chance to do wheel throwing because that was really fun to learn and I really enjoyed it.
wheel throwing
This task I had t perform was to make a bowl and a cylinder. To me this project was not that hard. The hardest part was getting the clay centered on the wheel. The bowl was really fun to make because you could make the bowl look really cool and you can design it whatever way you want. I really like how both of them turned out especially haw the bowl looks. I really like the green color on it. The cylinder was okay it was tricky to get the even on all sides. All in all i really like this project and hopefully get to attempt to do the wheel next year.
Slab Projects
For this project I made a ceramic lantern. I started by coming up with a few designs on what I thought looked cool. Then I decided to do a lantern. What I did next was cut out a circle for the base of the lantern. Once I had the base then I made a big long slab. Once I had my slab made I cut off parts of the slab so it was perfect to stat to go around the base to start to form the lantern. Once I put t around the base I used coils to fuse it all together,. Once it was all done I put my fist glaze on which was just some color to it for the first firing. After the first firing I put a clear glaze on it to make it looks very smooth. The part that I like was making the big slab. The part that I didnt enjoy was making the pattern to it because it was a Little hard to start cutting a pattern into.
Coil Pots
For this project I had to create a coil pot that has to have a height of 8 inches. I really had a good time performing this project. What I did was I stared out with a pinch pot. The reason i started out with a pinch pot was so I could get a good foundation for the vase once I started to put coils around it. Once I stared to put up the coils I started to get wide toward the bottom with coils then started to get smaller toward the bottom. I really like doing this project and hope to m maybe perform another slab project also.
Pinch Pots
For the first official project our objective was to create 3 pinch pots that somehow fit together. What I did was created one larger pinch pot then a medium pinch pot and put those two together. Then last i created a smaller pinch pot and put that one on top of the other two. That top pinch pot made the pear look very realistic. After that I smoothed out the whole thing then put a nice green glaze on it. Then I put on a clear glaze to create the smooth texture. I really like doing the glaze stuff to it, but I dint like doing the smoothing because I really wanted it to be smoother but you cant always get it perfect.
